Terms of Use

Effective 5 July 2026

Welcome to Vidya-Ashram. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Vidya-Ashram (operated by Artius Solutions; “we”, “us”), the service at vidya-ashram.com (“the Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What Vidya-Ashram is — and isn't

Vidya-Ashram is a companion for personal study, reflection, and practice grounded in Sanatana Dharma sources. Much of what it shows you — daily teachings, answers to questions, reflections on what you write — is generated by artificial intelligence running on our own hardware. AI-generated content can be incomplete, imprecise, or wrong, and it may not reflect the views of any tradition, lineage, or teacher. It is offered for reflection and learning, not as religious authority. Where the Service quotes scripture, please verify important passages against a trusted printed edition or teacher.

The Service is currently offered free of charge as a beta. Features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time.

2. Not professional advice

Vidya-Ashram is not a substitute for professional care of any kind. It does not provide — and must not be relied on for — medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal, financial, or emergency services. Its responses are not a diagnosis, treatment, therapy, or professional recommendation, even when they discuss wellbeing, emotions, or difficult life situations. For any health, mental-health, legal, or financial concern, please consult a qualified professional.

If you are in crisis

If you or someone near you may be in danger, or you are having thoughts of harming yourself, please do not turn to this app — reach real people who can help, right now:

3. Who may use the Service

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You sign in with a Google account; you are responsible for keeping that account secure and for all activity under your Vidya-Ashram account. Please give us accurate information and let us know if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only lawfully and respectfully. In particular, you will not:

5. Your content

The reflections, journal entries, questions, and conversations you create remain yours. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, back up, and display that content solely to operate and protect the Service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell it. You can delete stored “memories” in the app and can request deletion of your account and content at any time.

6. Our content and sources

The Service's software, design, and curated study materials belong to us or our licensors. Scriptural passages surfaced by the Service belong to their respective sources and traditions; we surface them with attribution where possible. You may use what the Service shows you for your personal, non-commercial study and practice.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be correct, complete, or appropriate for your situation.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to the Service; and (b) our total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed fifty US dollars (US $50) or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Indemnity

If your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms causes a third-party claim against us, you agree to indemnify us for reasonable losses and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from that claim.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and may request deletion of your account by writing to [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, or where needed to protect the Service, its users, or to comply with law. Sections 5–13 survive termination.

11. Changes to the Service or these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to give notice (for example, a notice in the app). The “Effective” date above always reflects the current version, and continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Hennepin County, Minnesota, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, please write to us at [email protected] — most concerns can be resolved quickly and informally.

13. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization or transfer of the Service, with notice to you.
